Sodick SLC 600 G

The SLC 600 G wire erosion machine from Sodick is a high-precision machine tool that has been specially developed for machining hard materials and complex geometries. It is used in industry whenever precision, surface quality and the ability to cut very intricate structures are of great importance.

Key features of the Sodick SLC 600 G

?? Linear motor drive:
Sodick relies on a maintenance-free linear motor drive for the SLC 600 G, which enables particularly precise and fast movements. This ensures a long service life and significantly reduces maintenance costs.

?? Generator technology:
The SLC 600 G is equipped with the highly developed ?Smart Pulse? generator technology, which ensures excellent surface quality and high efficiency. This technology also minimises wear on the wire and thus ensures lower material costs.

?? Cooling and filter system:
The machine has an efficient cooling system and advanced filter technology that ensures clean cuts and high repeatability. These systems help to ensure the temperature stability of the machine and thus maximise machining precision.

?? NC unit and control:
The machine is equipped with an advanced NC control unit that provides intuitive user guidance and facilitates customisation for different machining requirements. This control also supports the automatic adjustment of parameters for optimised processes.

? The wire-cutting process

In wire erosion (also known as EDM, Electric Discharge Machining), material is removed using targeted spark discharges. A thin wire - usually made of brass or copper - serves as an electrode and is guided through the workpiece between two electrically charged points. The sparks that jump between the wire and the workpiece remove the material precisely, without direct contact between the wire and the workpiece. The precise control of the spark discharge allows complex contours and shapes to be cut in hard materials such as steel, carbide or titanium. The process is therefore ideal for precision components in the tool and mould making industry.
